Why Dell Should Stick To Quality Rather Than Design
January 6, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed
Should I tell you why they are not known for design but rather quality? Its simple, when they try the end result is always something like this; A severely overpriced, $1,200, 22-inch crystal monitor.
The Dell Crystal monitor took home the highest design honor at the prestigious Consumer Electronics Show CES “Best of Innovations” 2008. Tempered glass, highly polished metal tripod stand, unobtrusive connections make this monitor a show-stopper. But dont get me wrong, this thing is a beaut but its waaaaaay to pricey for anyone like me, as this thing is roughly $900 more expensive than other models with the same spec but different make…is it worth that much?
Introducing Dell Crystal- tempered glass, highly polished metal tripod stand, unobtrusive connections, capacitive touch controls, integrated webcam, microphone and speakers, and a 22? HD panel.

Specs:

Panel Performance
Amazing 1680 x 1050 resolution for stunning detail, fast 2-millisecond (gray to gray) response time for fluid motion, and a high 2000:1 contrast ratio. Dell Crystal features a 98%2 color gamut versus the 72% color gamut found on typical LCD monitors. View more color shades and tones than previously possible. Get vivid hues, remarkable depth and pictures bright enough for viewing under most lighting. Enjoy deeper reds, crisp blues and sparkling whites.
The Power of One
When it comes to Crystal?s cable management, smart and minimal design does away with the unsightly clutter of multiple cables. A single cable provides the power and video connection.
Out of Sight
The Dell Crystal?s tiny and inconspicuous webcam sits flush above the display with the barest hint of a connection.
Smooth Control
Function is a smooth extension of form when it comes to the Dell Crystal?s capacitive touch controls and discreet connections. Unobtrusive controls with subtle wiring create visual simplicity and easy functionality.
After all that it’s only a 22-inch monitor with a 1,680 by 1,050 resolution - Would you buy a monitor for this price unless it packs 1080p capabilities? I certainly wouldn’t for that ridiculous price!
