Sony KDF-E50A12U 50″ HDTV Review
November 14, 2007 by Ghumra

Sony’s KDF-E50A12U is a huge 50-inch screen that claims to take up the same corner space as my current 42-inch plasma (Panasonic).

Sony’s latest 3LCD technology has freed the picture of typical rear-projection constraints such as blurred detail, bleached colours and poor off-axis viewing to produce a surprisingly creditable picture. And the future-proof specification includes an integrated digital TV tuner and high-resolution panel with digital connectivity that’s high-definition compatible.
The design of the KDF-E50A12U is virtually unrecognisable from the imposing constructions that characterised rear-projection screens in the past.

In fact, when facing the television you could be forgiven for presuming it’s a large-screen plasma. Only a glance around the side reveals otherwise, but even then the dimensions are less deep than a typical CRT television — and it’s also incredibly light, considering the size.
Ok, so this is not a plasma TV but who gives a damn? I mean, at only ?1200 directly of shops or much cheaper via ebay and other smaller retailers its a must get for anyone with a low budget. The TV supports upto 1080i meaning that you can get top performance out of your game consoles such as the xbox 360, unless you really want to buy a TV that supports 1080p which costs a lot.
What you think of this TV? I’ve met a few retailers wanting to sell at the ?500 mark ($1000) which is very cheap and certainly within the price range of our beloved Abdalla who now has his student loans and grants to spend as he wishes ![]()

Hmm Tempting….very tempting!
£500 for a 50inch SONY HDTV sounds like a great price but if I had that amount of loose change I’d go for a small er Bravia (Around 32-37 inch) for about the same price
