Put Movies on Your Nokia N95 Handset!
December 27, 2007 by Abdalla Ahmed
This post is here to help you all to be able to download the latest movies, series or anything watchable to your Nokia N95.
Before we start I have taken the liberty to grab all programs needed and listed them in the SweetHacks Download Directory for You. Find direct downloads below:-
The above files are needed depending on which route you decide to take.
How to setup DivX Mobile Player on your Nokia N95 (8gb or not)
Before we begin, what is DivX player?
DivX is a video codec created by DivX, Inc. (formerly DivXNetworks, Inc.), which has become popular due to its ability to compress lengthy video segments into small sizes while maintaining relatively high visual quality. DivX uses lossy MPEG-4 Part 2 compression, where quality is balanced against file size for utility.
Now that we know what it is, go ahead and download (and install) Nokia PC Suit from the above download link or via the CD that came accompanied with your purchase of the beautiful n95. Once you have installed Nokia PC Suite you will need to download DivX Mobile Player from the above link and make sure you put it on your desktop. If this download link does not work then try getting DivX mobile Player directly from the DivX website found by clicking here- Note you will need to register before you can download the player.
Once you have successfully downloaded the divx player you will need to install it via your Nokia PC Suite Program which can be found on your desktop toolbar next to where time is displayed (Windows OS).
As you can see from the above picture you need to right click on the Nokia PC Suite in the toolbar next to the time (if your on windows XP) and choose “install applications”. There you will be greeted with the below picture where you need to choose your phone memory not memory card to install divX Mobile player on.

Click Through For Larger Picture
Once you have clicked Install on the application you should receive a message on your phone to install application. If it FAILS to install because of certificate errors such as validation or expiry then make sure to do the following.
Go to N95 menu, Click Applications, then choose App. mgr (application manager) and then left click (options) and choose settings. Here you want the following settings;
Software Installation: ALL
Online Certificate Check: OFF
You should now have successfully installed divX Player unto your phone.
If you already have a move file that you want to put unto your phone, then right click the nokia pc suite (or double click it) and select file manager. Make sure you choose an appropriate location to put the video file on i.e my videos on your memory card (or mass memory). DivX player will find these video files as soon as you open the player. For those of you who have not got any movies, do not fear, just keep on reading!
How To Get Movies
Remember how I said there are two routes to get your movies or files online - Route A and Route B?
Route (A) is by far the best way to be able to get your movies because it does not require you to get files only when their new and “hot” on the market. You can download the file anytime (within retention ~ 100+days) at the fastest speed your ISP has to offer, which in my case is 2.4mb a second. I typically download an episode of prison break (~400mb) in about 3 minutes flat.
Now, I am not saying you will download a 400mb file in 3 minutes, in fact you may download it a lot faster or a lot slower. This all depends on the current broadband (or dial up) speed you are currently running, I am on a 20mb Broadband (Cable) line.
So the pro’s of Route A is that its fast and reliable with a great amount of download sources (movies, games, etc) available.
The only thing which may put most people off is that it costs monthly - This does not mean a monthly subscription but it can be if you want. Its cheap with the unlimited download package at only $15 a month. With many payment options such as Paypal, Credit Card, Moneybookers or E-Gold., in fact you can even pay in USD, EUR or GBP which suits most of the population in this world…well most of my website traffic anyway
Route (A) is something we call “Usenet”:
Usenet (a contraction of user network) is a global, decentralized, distributed Internet discussion system that evolved from a general purpose UUCP architecture of the same name.
A diagram of some Usenet servers and clients.
This is by far the best way to be able to get your movies or files required such as latest prison break or latest microsoft windows (warez). As people that have the required files upload them to a specific group (called newsgroups) and you download them with your newsgroup provider and download client which is in this case grabit (download link available at the top of post).
All you need is your access (i.e username and password) and then your a few moments away from downloading all your needs.
Good places to download your NZB files - These are the files which you need to be able to get the movies etc - are binsearch.net, nzbsrus.com (requires registration and currently limited to 5 downloads a day unless you become VIP). There are many more but binsearch.net usually has them all. If you are finding the terminology used (words) a bit difficult to apprehend then check out these terminology definitions.
If you want to give it a try, sign up to ngroups which is my favorite (newsgroups) provider.

Update:
If you need more information on newsgroups/usenet like extensive reviews then I highly suggest you visit ngprovider.com. There are plenty of information and it certainly helps you save money and a lot of hassle.
Route (B) is 100% free which requires no registration of any sort. The programs you need for this one is the U-Torrent client for which the download link is available at the top of the post.
All you need is to install the download client (in this case u-torrent) and then head on over to isohunt or whatever other torrent download site you use (millions available, just google torrent downloads) and find the .torrent file and load it up in u-torrent. A nice video tutorial on how to use u-torrent can be found by clicking HERE!
The only bad side to torrents are that they require an incredibly high ratio rate of seeders to leechers which means a lot of people should have uploaded the film/video/app before you will get a decent download speed. Since most people do not like to upload things they just download the files and bounce which means it will take even longer for you to download. Also the older the file is the more likely it is going to not have any seeders meaning it will be impossible for you to download it - typical time for torrents to go useless = 1 month.
well there you have it folks, I am sorry to have taken so long to write this guide but thats university for ya! In the near future I am going to write an ebook specifically on how to get movies and such in a much better fashion than the quick rough guide I wrote above.
P.S Do not forget to Digg this if you like it. Thanks.
Thanks and Enjoy!
