How Wifi Works
August 2, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed
Hello folks,
Its been a while but ive been extremely busy trying to sort out various things whilst im on holiday. Last time you may remember I was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now im in Cairo Egypt for the second phase of my extensive vacation before Uni kicks back in.
Ive always wondered how Wifi works and since ive been away from the UK ive been trying to “hack” into secured wireless hotspots in various places - some with success might I add. But have you ever thought about how “Wifi” actually works?
Many people use wireless networking, also known as WiFi or 802.11 networking to establish a connection to the internet or between various computers.

So what exactly is “Wifi” ?
A wireless network is basically a set of radio waves that transmit information just like how the TV or Radio receives information I would like to think of it like a two way radio communication.
Here’s what happens:
1. A computer’s wireless adapter translates data into a radio signal and transmits it using an antenna.
2. A wireless router receives the signal and decodes it. It sends the information to the Internet using a physical, wired Ethernet connection.
The process also works in reverse, with the router receiving information from the Internet, translating it into a radio signal and sending it to the computer’s wireless adapter.

The best part of “wifi” is its wireless and its all a set of data being transmitted forth and backwards meaning you can tamper with the information to get what you want, in my case the passwords for WEP networks as well as WPA.
If you too want to hack into your neighbors wifi or someone elses (I dont recommend it), I would advice you to read the guide found in this post here. (click) - Also, find a video attached on how to get free wireless videos anytime you want:
Stay tuned for more information on how my trip to malaysia went with videos and pictures to come up. Furthermore, the first batch of review links are due to come up so please stay tuned.
