How To Mount IMG, BIN, ISO & CUE Files

January 17, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed

At some point in time, especially if you download a lot of movies or applications, you will come across the types of files I have mentioned above. The annoying thing is, you will need to have a program installed to be able to access the goodies beneath the extensions and as usual the only programs which people recommend cost money

But dont worry, I have put together a small tutorial on how to mount images unto a virtual drive for absolutely free!

Before we begin you will need to download Virtual Clone Drive which can be found by clicking HERE.

Once you have downloaded the program please go ahead and run the .exe to install the program. The program should install on any windows version as officially it says that you can only install on Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP but I now have it running on Windows Vista Home Premium flawlessly.

Once you have installed you can setup 8 virtual drivers (max) but I find that 1 is more than enough. To actually mount an image you will need to select the file in question (right click) and select mount image. If you choose to associate the supported image file formats and extensions with Virtual CloneDrive, you can then simply double-click on an image file to mount as a drive.

In my case (windows vista) I had to right click and select open with and choose “Mount Files With Virtual CloneDrive” - See picture below:

I hope this short guide helps you to be able to mount images more easier, no need to have shitty deamon tools with its spyware and ads, Virtual CloneDrive is your best bet.

You are obviously biased towards this product or merely a fool to claim and believe that Daemon Tools installs anything you, as a user, don’t explicitly allow it to. Daemon Tools has no Spyware and the only Ad’s or toolbar that could possibly be installed you agreed to. The product is free and IF you agree to it during the application install, it will put some links on your desktop, install a tool bar and change the home page of your browser. But again, you HAVE to agree to this. Anyone who can’t figure this out shouldn’t be posting “tutorials” on the web and should be playing with Crayola and coloring on scrap paper.
