Controversy Creates Traffic!

Looking through the stats for the site this morning, I noticed two very high traffic website (gaming related) linked to the Halo 3 article which I put together a few days ago – Infact, traffic went from 450+ uniques a day to over 1000 (past two days, yesterdays being 1150+)

One of the sites that linked to me was N4G (News 4 Gamers). I have not come across this valuable website before until it showed up as a referring site in my stats but from what I gather its a “social game news site that covers the game industry 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

I assume it works like QJ where users can submit a story and then it gets featured on the website as part of their daily news. Someone obviously submitted this article and it created a buzz and sent lots of traffic here and guess what? The server crashed! I think if this continues, its time for an upgrade.

What I did not understand though is the comments on the submitted article. Everyone should know from my About page that I am a fan of the Xbox 360 console and I don’t like playstation but never the less wrote a proper article about why halo 3 really has to sell and the facts such as “PS3 Being Graphically Superior” was quoted from other respective sites online.

Then again controversy creates traffic and thats exactly what the halo 3 article did, yes it did not create a digg effect but it was good enough :D

The other website that linked to me was nikon.bungie.org, that sent me its fair share of traffic so I guess if I keep the good content up I am on my way to really putting this blog on the map and also increasing my amount of RSS Subscribers which by the way increased by nearly
50% since the article was written. You 55 guys who subscribed rule! To be amongst these elites, subscribe to our RSS FEED Today!

On another note, I am sure many of the new readers own a website/blog, how about free advertising here? 5 Free links positions are available on this blog, get it while its free (were predicted a PR3-4 in the next Google Update).

Update:

I forgot to mention the contest we are holding, win a copy of halo 3 by simply commenting, more by clicking here.
