Fellow hacker turns a NES controller into a a Cell Phone!
June 18, 2007 by Abdalla Ahmed · Leave a Comment

The title says it all, a NES controller turned into a cell phone (mobile phone). Until Nintendo enters the mobile phone market, this NES controller turned Nokia cell phone will have to satiate the Nintendophiles of the world. Sam Garfield took the fanboy-pleasing task of completely stripping out an old-school NES controller and molding his Nokia 3200 to fit inside.
The buttons were a special challenge. Each button has to be dremeled down so it fits flush inside the controller case. This involves cutting the red buttons off at the tab, and cutting the entire back off the directional buttons (the biggest pain of the whole project).”
Sam posted the project on DIY Happy, so naturally there is a lengthy, though not very descriptive narrative about how to actually perform this mod yourself.
Amazing dont you think? Sam call’s it “version 1.0″ NES Phone, but wait, theres even a video for you:

Also while browsing for more NES related articles, I found a NES player NOT by nintendo, 2 NES related findings in one day? this feels good.

I do know that plenty of portable media players from China and Taiwan (those generic models that come with different names) do ship with an NES emulator that let’s you play hundreds of gaming classics from the 8-bit era, but most of the time the processor in those portable media players aren’t up to snuff, and your Mario will probably suffer from lag as well as dropped sounds. Heck, I’ve even seen him enter a transparent pipe before due to poor coding! The latest device to ship with an NES emulator is not a portable media player but a cellphone instead.

Blu Ray Discs - They Actually Rot?
June 17, 2007 by Abdalla Ahmed · 7 Comments
Personally i’m an xbox 360 fan but when I was told by some friends that their blu-ray discs can actually “rot” I was quite amazed. Thought the whole reason Blu Ray Discs where chosen as to DVD discs where because of their superiority to DVD. Less security risks and this and that, well hah- For all you PS3 fans, hate to say so but in your face!
The spot appears on the disc coating for no apparent reason and cannot be rubbed off even after proper cleaning procedures are applied. The most rampant incidence is with the movie “The Prestige,” with some other whines and moans here and there.
The scope of the problem is almost impossible to determine as of the moment but those who experienced the problem are encouraged to ask for a replacement in the store where they got it. If enough incidents are reported, retailers can escalate this to the proper avenues for appropriate action to be taken.

Halo for Nintendo DS ?? - Rumour turning into reality?!
June 17, 2007 by Abdalla Ahmed · 5 Comments

One thing is sure, nintendo and microsoft are considered rivals in the gaming/console world so automatically any co-production between the brands would be put down as complete crap or a simple lie. Now, what if I told you theres plans for a “Halo” Game on nintendo’s handheld (DS) ? …Never is what I thought but IGN seems to sure as hell that its going to be released with more information being given next week!
As GameStooge points out, in a recent IGN podcast (06-15-07), editor Matt Casamassina once again brought up the subject of Halo DS. It’s just a very quick comment, but right around the 38:00 mark of the podcast, Casamassina says that Halo DS is:
A real game… It was a Halo on DS! And it never made it to the light of day, for whatever reason. That reason was most likely Microsoft or Nintendo…
But a lot of people just don’t believe that. We’re gonna lay down some ownage next week or soon afterward by showing you guys that that is a real game. You guys are about to be owned - all you nay-sayers.
Some may have thought that IGN being able to play a build/demo of the game was just a hoax. Now, maybe we can actually confirm that.
Well I guess we will just have to hold on unto next week!

June 16, 2007 by Abdalla Ahmed · 1 Comment

For some strange reason the site just seemed to crash and say something about mail function being disabled by host when it never was. After searching google for possible fixes or solutions, it came to my attention that this was a major bug that rarely happened. I was left with the only solution of deleting everything (yes am i a newb) and reinstalling everything BUT with a proper mail system in place so we never get that silly error again! Sorry for the downtime, but were now Back, Up & Running so get posting!

UnBrick Your PSP (With Memory Card)
June 16, 2007 by Abdalla Ahmed · 2 Comments
I was going through the PSP forums (qj.net) and noticed some talk about a potential PSP un-bricker just by using your memory card and some funny form of a battery as opposed to the original PSP battery.
There was a PSP that Sony unbricked that was sent back to the owner with a memory stick inside.
The memory stick contained these items:
- Binary encrypted full NAND image.
- Required modules for system control for use by IPL of debug hardware.
- Logging module for debug log review (log is saved after full write).
- A file used for testing that the system plays well (usually a demo of a PSP game).

This memory stick supposedly unbricks any PSP.
But, you need a special battery in the PSP to load the files.
The full procedure can be found clicking HERE. The reason that I have not talked about the full procedure is that I frankly believe this to be utter rubbish, until there is proof by pictures or video it will not be mentioned here again. What Do you think, true or false? Its your call.
