Are Booth Babes Worth the $$$?

March 26, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed · Leave a Comment

I’m pretty sure that getting attractive women to spend time in a place full of geeky men takes some money. MyTreo.net calls it the “oldest consumer electronics marketing trick.”

Whatever the case, I don’t think booth babes are effective marketing tools (pardon my objectification of women), for the same reason why I think giving away free phones on The Ellen Degeneres Show is a waste of money.

The “promotional models” do attract attention, but not the right kind. Instead of drawing customers genuinely interested in the offering, these women catch the attention of any one on the market for some fleshy eye candy.

Do we honestly believe that the products and services featured by booth babes will be more memorable than the hotness of the booth babes themselves?

Xbox 360 Right-handed Controller!

March 23, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed · 1 Comment

benheckLadies & Gentlemen, Benheck does it again, this time he presents the right handed controller pad a few weeks after the one hand controller as we see on the left.

“Recently I was asked to build another one of the right-handed controllers, and I thought I?d talk about it on the site a bit. This isn?t the production model that I?ve been working on with eDimensional, you can read more about that here.(link in article)

But this is a refinement of a right-hand only design, similar to one I did last year. As before the right analog stick is actuated by setting this controller against a leg or table. An elastic strap/Velco attaches everything to your hand. For more photos, check the rest of the story.”

500 Limited Edition GTA IV 360s

March 22, 2008 by Ghumra · Leave a Comment

GTAFancy one of these?

Microsoft added to the buzz leading up to the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto IV by dropping a limited run of 500 GTA-branded Xbox 360 Elite systems and a briefcase full of peripherals today. We got our hands on number 170 out of 500. More pics after the jump.

The guys at Xbox took an Elite system and, using automotive-quality paint, touched up the sides of the 360 with the GTA IV box art and a serial number. Not a bad way to welcome the first title in the franchise that didn?t drop as a Sony exclusive. Rockstar is also producing exclusive episodes for 360 users available for download this fall. Hopefully it involves Bill Gates and Warren Buffet rolling up on GTA IV?s featured hitter Niko Bellic. The game finally drops on April 29. Unfortunately, the limited run of GTA IV 360s ain?t available in stores.

iPhone Dev Team jailbreaks firmware 2.0 - Unlock That iPhone

March 13, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed · Leave a Comment

Even before it was actually released (firmware 2.0) the Dev Team created the jailbreak firmware that could already unlock it.

The iPhone Dev Team has once again proven their totally gnarly talents by freeing up the latest firmware before it?s even the latest firmware. Apple, here?s our suggestion ? just let people do what they want with your devices, since they?re clearly going to do it anyway. That way, instead of making enemies, you?re making lifelong buddies. Reasonable, right? Steve, give us a call, we?re more than happy to riff on some ideas for playing nice with the end-user.

Brushing off Adsense

March 9, 2008 by Abdalla Ahmed · 4 Comments

When John Chow said “never put your eggs in one basket“, he was right. After just being over 2 years with Adsense I finally got the dreaded email declaring the end of our relationship. Yes that’s right, we have officially joined the “Banned-From-Adsense” group.

With my newly established proxy network (still being tweaked here and there) I was hoping to make a nice living off adsense. Before the ban I was roughly earning $20-30 a day ($5 a day of this site) but now that extra income is gone. The funny thing is I never click on my own ads  and have never had a problem with adsense before.

The most stupid thing is, I had emailed them 5 days before saying I suspected some clicks where a bit suspicious as I made a lot more than I expected in a day and guess what? They ignore the email and banned me instead. Upon that note I would like to say “good riddance” to NoSense and welcome TTZ Media as our number one premium Pay-Per-Click advertiser.

Furthermore, we are currently testing Adbrite as a CPM advertiser. Its located under our footer incase your wondering. As we get around 5-10k pageviews daily (webalizer) we are hoping to make some good money to cover our costs - Namely the new Dedicated Server we just purchased from micfo.

On a happier note, someone has sent me the following video for not updating the blog the past few days:

I promise to update everyday and stop playing games on my Xbox 360!

P.S To all people wondering what the links under every post is, click here.

P.S you can order in post ads and lots of other forms of advertising such as $10 PR4 links by visiting our advertisement page.

Tech Ramblings 08/03/2008

1- Meet the TerraDisk

We have all heard of Blu-Ray discs aswell as HD-DVD’s, especially the way they are optimised for large disc usage and capacity. But with the new 1 Terrabyte Disk could be the new replacement to standard dvd and a competitor to Blu-Ray & HD-DVD.

1tbdvd.jpg

“It is called the TeraDisk and it is really small, like a ordinary CD/DVD. But it?s really huge in terms of space. 1 TB (1000 GB). How can this be done? The process is easy (or not). All existing optical media record data on semitransparent layers. A regular CD has 1 layer and a Blu-Ray disk has up to 8. The reason nobody can add more layers on a regular CD/DVD/Blu-Ray disk is because when the light passes through these layers it becomes distorted and by the time it reaches the final layers it becomes almost impossible to read/write on the disk.”

2 - Facebook worth 1.5 Billion US Dollars

Sajal Kayan wrote an interesting post on the genius behind facebook which utilizes unique web technology to drive millions of users to it every day. He states Facebook is valued at 1.5 US Billion Dollars!

“Worth 1.5 billion dollars, the young man has made a debut in this years Forbes magazine?s list of the World?s Billionaires where he has secured the 785th rank.”

3- Sony “in talks” with Microsoft about a Xbox 360 Blu-ray drive

xbox-bluray.jpg

About 48 milliseconds after the format war was officially over, rumors started running rampant (again) about Blu-ray making its way over to Microsoft’s latest console. Now, however, those rumors actually have some legs — well, at least a leg. According to Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US president, “Sony is in talks with console rival Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360.”
